Paxton man sentenced to prison for Aggravated DUI

A Paxton man with, what officials say, a history of DUI’s was sentenced in Grundy County. 41-year-old Alan Mahon received a 3-year prison term. Mahon pled guilty to a Class 2 felony of Aggravated DUI.  Court records show Mahon has had at least three other DUI convictions -- two priors in Ford County and another in Champaign County.

Mahon was also placed into the Grundy County Alternative Treatment Court Program. Prosecutors say if Mahon passes the program, the charge will be dropped, and he wouldn’t have to serve the prison sentence. However, if Mahon fails the program, he will have to serve the prison time.

Mahon was arrested by the Morris Police Department for DUI, improper lane usage, improper turn, speeding 35 miles or more over posted limit and transporting alcohol after a traffic stop in the area near Route 47 in Morris on April 11th of 2023.
