Storm Clean-up Continues from Thursday Weather >

There was no serious damage reported in Iroquois County from Thursday’s weather episodes, but other parts of Illiana were dealing with aftermath of heavy rain, winds and hail.

The clean-up continued Friday across parts of east-central Illinois and western Indiana. The stormy weather crossed the area late Thursday into Friday morning.

The Bloomington-Normal area reported three buildings damaged, some rooftops were peeled back and trees uprooted.  The National Weather Service (NWS) reported the damage was consistent with straight-line winds.

In Champaign County, authorities say no injuries were reported when 10 cars of a Union Pacific Train derailed near Sidney during the storms.  There were no hazardous materials involved.  It was believed that strong winds caused the derailment.

Trees and limbs were downed at several locations on both sides of the state line.   And farmers were assessing their fields to see whether any crop damage occurred.

The National Weather Service issued tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Iroquois, Ford, Livingston and Vermilion counties.

Some communities reported power outages, but utility companies had most everyone restored in a hurry.
