Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
Services at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at Elwood will be Monday at the main flagpole. The Joliet American Legion band will begin playing at 11 a.m. The formal program will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Local and area services include the Watseka American Legion Post #23 remembrance ceremony at Legion Park in Watseka. It’s at 11 am Monday, May 28.
Sheldon American Legion Post #393 invites the public to the Sheldon Library Monday at 11 am. Lunch is served afterwards at the Community Center.
Memorial Day Services are Sunday at 2 pm at the Sugar Creek Chapel Cemetery near Stockland.
Cissna Park American Legion Post # 527 gathers in the community park at 9 am Monday. The Cissna Park Drill Team also visits the Rankin Cemetery at 10 am.
Chebanse American Legion Post # 408 is hosting its service Monday. It’s at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery.
At the Clifton Cemetery --- The Clifton Legion and Central VFW Post #2131 has a 2 pm Sunday service planned.
Services at the L’Erable Cemetery are at 9:45 am Monday offered thru the Ashkum American Legion and Auxiliary, which will also be at the Ashkum Cemetery at 10:30 am.
The American Legion Post will have services at 11 a.m. Sunday, the day before Memorial Day, at the Post on Sandbar, Kankakee.
Bishop McNamara High School
Bishop McNamara High School will replant the Ryan Beaupre Memorial Tree at 8:30 a.m. Monday before the start of the annual Ken Klipp Classic 5K run. Beaupre died in the early hours of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 when the helicopter he was piloting crashed, returning from a mission. A McNamara alumnus, he had been an Illinois State Scholar at the school.
American Legion Post 766 will hold a Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the plaque next to the post on Broadway.
All Saints Cemetery on Illinois Route 102, Bourbonnais, will have a special Memorial Day Mass 9 a.m. Monday in the chapel at the cemetery.
A Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Angel of Peace Cemetery in Hopkins Park.
Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno
The Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno, will have a ceremony 2 p.m. Monday at Veterans Hall. The ceremony is open to the public.
Kankakee County Courthouse
The annual Memorial Day service on the front lawn of the Kankakee County Courthouse will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
The Manteno Legion National Guard, veterans and the public will celebrate Memorial Day by honoring fallen warriors at five local cemeteries.
Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery, east of Kankakee on Illinois Route 17, will have services at 9 a.m. Monday.
The Momence Honor Guard will be participating in services Monday. The services include visits to several area cemeteries.
The Danville National Cemetery will be hosting this area’s main Memorial Day service on Monday, May 28th. The ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. following a short parade down the Avenue of Flags starting at 10:30.
