LEANTHONY HAS PROVIDED LOTS OF EXCITEMENT FOR THE STATE-RANKED REDSKINS IN 2 GAMES THUS FAR. IN A 60-22 HOME WIN OVER DEER-CREEK MACKINAW, HE COLLECTED 306 ALL-PURPOSE YARDS, WITH 3 TOUCHDOWN RUNS, 1 TD CATCH, AND A 96-YARD KICKOFF RETURN FOR A SCORE. THE FIRST TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK IN WATSEKA AND CLIFTON PLAYER OF THE WEEK (ENDING 8-30-14) IS JUNIOR QUARTERBACK COLE DAVENPORT OF THE WATSEKA WARRIORS.

DAVENPORT CAME THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH FOR WATSEKA ON FRIDAY NIGHT'S SEASON OPENER IN CATLIN. WITH WATSEKA TRAILING EARLY IN THE 4TH, 21-7, TO THE SALT FORK STORM, HE THREW A 24 YARD TD PASS TO PULL WATSEKA WITHIN 21-14, AND THEN AT THE 47 SECOND MARK, HE TOSSED A 7-YARD TD PASS TO PUT WATSEKA AHEAD 26-21, AND THE WARRIORS WOULD HOLD ON FOR A THRILLING UPSET WIN. DAVENPORT FINISHED THE GAME WITH 150 ALL PURPOSE YARDS, 128 IN THE AIR, 22 ON THE GROUND.

The First Trust and Savings Bank in Watseka and Clifton Player of the Week (ending 8-23-14) is JUNIOR QUARTERBACK JOHN DAFCIK OF THE SOUTH NEWTON REBELS.  John had a pair of TD runs, and 1 TD pass, as he calmly led an impressive Rebel offense, as S. Newton won in convincing fashion at rival N. Newton, 40-0, and re-claiming the Blue & Gray Travelling Trophy.

North over South in Senior Bowl 13-6

After being postponed Saturday 6/21 due to storms, the North edged the South 13-6 in the River Valley Senior Bowl at Bradley-Bourbonnais High School.

Early in the 1st, Plano QB Collin Seyller threw a 50-yard TD pass to Bradley-Bourbonnais's L.J. Harris.  BB's Nathan Giacchino's extra point was good, making it 7-0 North.

The South immediately answered with Iroquois West's Austin Zirkle caught a 4-yard TD pass from Central's J.R. Caspary.  The extra point was missed, and the North still led 7-6.

Bradley-Bourbonnais's Daniel Harris scored from 2 yards out early in the 2nd quarter to account for the final scoring of the entire game.  The final 13-6, North.

Daniel Harris led the North with 72 yards rushing, L.J. Harris finished with 70 yards receiving.  J.R. Caspary finished with 157 yards passing, 62 of those yards going to Austin Zirkle on 4 receptions.
