Iroquois County voters will have choices for County Board in next year's election. All four County Board districts offer contested-races for the March 2016 Primary Election.
The candidate filing period ended today (Monday) at 5 pm. Last day filers made their way into the County Clerk's Office to turn in petitions.
Some candidates shared thoughts with WGFA News, saying "enough is enough, time to put the train wreck back on track." A couple of candidates said "the mess and controversy created over the last handful years is pretty obvious...reason people have stepped forward."
Two available seats in County Board District 1 finds four candidates filing....Leanne Hofbauer Duby of Martinton and Brent Boehrnsen of Martinton, Michael McTaggart of Clifton and Chad McGinnis of Chebanse.
Five candidates in District 2 are seeking three available seats ... incumbents Jed Whitlow and Ernie Curtis of Gilman filed, along with Ray Guttendorf olf Gilman, Kathy Ebert of Onarga and Barbara Offill of Gilman.
Two available seats in District 3 has five candidates seeking election .... Incumbent Charles Ault of Cissna Park is joined by Marvin Stichnoth of Stockland, Derek Crouse of Rural Watseka, and Steven Homerding and Jonathon Lamie of Milford.
Five candidates will seek three seats in District 4, including incumbents Adam Zumwalt of rural Sheldon and recently-appointed Dan Joyce of Watseka. Potential newcomers are Sherry Johnson, Kevin Coughenour and Kevin Bohlmann—all of Watseka.
Twenty-six Republican candidates have filed for Precinct Committeemen seats; Middleport 3 is contested.
Democratic Precinct Committeemen seats finds three candidates filing.
