A variety of questions were presented to several candidates seeking seats on the Iroquois County Board in next week's Illinois Primary Election.

A Candidates Forum in Crescent City Wednesday evening attracted an audience who listened to all but four candidates vying for seats. All four of the county board districts offer contested-races.

Meanwhile – Early Voting continues through next Monday. Area election offices offer extended early voting hours Saturday. Iroquois County hours Saturday at the County Clerk's Office are from 8:30 am 'til Noon.

Kankakee hours in the Clerk's office are Saturday 9 am to 4 pm. Also Sunday hours 10 am 'til 2 pm.

The polls will be open Tuesday, March 15, from 6 am 'til 7 pm.

Iroquois County Board candidates fielded questions including whether they favored night vs day meetings, a sales tax to boost revenues, long-terms goals toward county progress, size of the board, and thoughts on combatting flooding... to name a few.

No-shows at the event included incumbent Ernie Curtis of Gilman and Kathy Ebert, both from District 2; and Adam Zumwalt from District 4. Also absent was Democrat District 3 candidate Dustin Wells.

Those present to field questions from District 1 were Leanne Hofbauer-Duby, Michael McTaggart, Chad McGinnis and Brent Boehrnsen.

Representing District 2 were Barbara Offill, Ray Guttendorf and Gerald 'Jed" Whitlow. Whitlow is an incumbent.

District 3 candidates are Marvin Stichnoth, Derek Crouse, incumbent Charles Alt, Steve Homerding and Jonathon LaMie.

District 4 candidates were Dan Joyce (incumbent), Sherry Johnson, Kevin Coughenour and Kevin Bohlmann.

Un-contested county office-holders addressed the audience, including State's Attorney Jim Devine, Circuit Clerk Lisa Hines, and Coroner Bill Cheatum.

The forum was sponsored by the Iroquois County Republican Women's Club and the Gilman and Watseka Area Chambers of Commerce.
