Vacant downtown buildings in Paxton have become an eye-sore for enough people to where they want change. And the Paxton City Council has scheduled a 6:30 pm meeting Tuesday, September 13 to talk about the matter.

The Ford County Chronicle reports members of the Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce point to reasons change is needed….asking for new language in an ordinance to control vacant buildings. There’s been repeated complaints about a particular building being used for storage – in violation of an existing ordinance.

Chamber of Commerce reps want violators held responsible and more stringent fines for non-compliance. The Chronicle also reports, it’s been suggested the city consider eminent domain as an option.
