A 50-year prison term was handed down this (Fri) morning to Brian Garrett for the 2009 double murders of Robert Wood and Ralph Elsey.
The 30-year-old Garrett, represented by public defender Dale Strough, labored for months in the court system challenging his competence to stand trial. After mental evaluations finally ruled he was fit for trial, Garrett pleaded guilty to 1st and 2nd degree murders for killing Elsey and Wood at the Sheldon home the men shared.
