A former mayor and village trustee, and dedicated community leader in the village of Bradley has died.

Robert Martin passed away this (Fri) morning at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

He served the Bradley community for three decades, as police chief, village trustee and mayor between the 1960s and late 1980s.  After his retirement, Bob Martin accepted the community’s call again…to serve again as a trustee and mayor.  He served a stint at mayor following the death of former mayor Ken Hayes.

Martin also served on the Bradley-Bourbonnais High School Board of Education.

World War II also interrupted what may have been a professional baseball career for Martin.
