Grants awarded to fire & EMS in Illinois

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal has announced the recipients of the 2022 Small Equipment Grant Program. A total of $2.5 million was awarded to 104 fire departments/districts and EMS providers across the state. The program was established to provide grants of up to $26,000 each for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.

Crescent-Iroquois Fire Protection District, Roberts-Melvin Fire District and Kankakee City Fire all receiving $26,000 from the grant.  Salina Township Fire Protection District in Kankakee County also gets $25, 412 while the Dwight EMS in Livingtson County gets $17, 638.  The Custer Fire Protection District in Will County also receives $25, 120.  

Fire Msrshal Matt Perez says the Small Equipment Grant is a huge benefit, especially for smaller, rural departments.  The funds help with equipment purchases for protecting the communities served.
