More than 1.6 million students benefit from funding
Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White awarded over $1.3 million in FY19 School District Library Grant Program awards to 694 public school districts. More than 1.6 million Illinois students served by school library media programs have benefitted from the grants.
Local and area libraries benefitting include --- Watseka Unit #9, Central Community School District #4, Cissna Park Unit School District #6, Donovan School District #3, Iroquois West District #10, Milford Area Public School District #124... all recipients of a $750.00 dollar payment.
Other school district library grants are going to Armstrong District #225, Beecher school district 200U, Reed Custer District 255U, Bourbonnais Elementary District #53, Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District #307, Bradley Elementary District #61, Kankakee School District #111, Dwight Districts #230 and #232, Prairie Central District #8, Danville District #118, GCMS District #5, Hoopeston District #111, Manteno School District #5, PBL District #10, and Pontiac High School District #90.
“As a former public school teacher and administrator, I know our school libraries are very important in helping students learn and prepare themselves for the future,” White said. “Illinois was the first state to implement a school district grant program, and I’m pleased that we can continue to provide school libraries with some of the financial resources they need to produce well-educated students.”
