A 35-year-old Odell man received a lengthy prison sentence for the sexual assault of a child. Cory Melvin assaulted a child under the age of 13 up to five times over a three year span. A Livingston County jury found Melvin guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault in October.
Sheriff’s Police arrested and charged Melvin with five-counts of sexual assault. A judge handed down the sentence of 27 years in prison for each count. Melvin will have to serve 85 percent of the sentence and will be released from prison in 2135.
