Fairbury Police involved in search for suspect

A police pursuit in Fairbury resulted in a man eventually turning himself in to authorities. The suspect wasn’t identified after an incident at a local gas station Saturday night. Fairbury Police answered a call to the Circle K gas station for an unknown problem. A man had injured himself braking out a windshield.

Fairbury Police Chief Robert McCormick stated in a news release the man took off running when information was being gathered about the incident. The officer ordered the subject to stop several times, according to McCormick. Then, a taser was used on the subject.

The male subject was able to remove the taser prongs and kept running. He ran again when tased a second time. Police were unable to initially locate the man who later turned himself in to Pontiac Police.

Departments assisting Fairbury Police came from Chatsworth, Chenoa, Colfax, Pontiac and Livingston County, along with the Livingston County Sheriff K-9 Unit. Fairbury Fire also helped at the scene.
