A Bradley firefighter/paramedic is being credited with saving the life of a driver who drove into a pond. This comes after his heroic act in Crete Township Wednesday. Firefighter and paramedic Kyle Haemker was headed home when he received word about a single-vehicle accident on Dixie Highway, near I-394. A vehicle was totally submerged in a pond with the driver still inside. Police and fire officials said Haemker then dove into the water, removed the driver’s seat belt and removed the driver from the vehicle. After swimming back to shore, Crete Township Ambulance personnel assisted. Haemker and the un-identified driver are doing fine.
