A Fairbury man was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after a guilty plea for two Class 2 felony charges stemming from a 2012 standoff with police at his rural Fairbury home.
56-year-old Arnold Munz pled guilty to two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Four other charges were dismissed, including aggravated discharge of a firearm toward a peace officer.
Another man testified that he was at twice by Munz.
The defense presented evidence from two doctors, one of which claimed Munz suffers from a seizure disorder. The testimony showed the seizures can lead to a state where Munz isn't able to remember events, which has been a claim of his since the incident.
