A 2-vehicle accident in Iroquois County today (Wednesday) left one person dead. Sheriff’s Police report a passenger in a vehicle driven by Felipe Aranda was pronounced dead at Riverside Hospital. Aranda’s vehicle was westbound on 1900 N. Road when it was hit by a southbound vehicle operated by Christopher Benz of Onarga. Police report Benz was southbound on 500 E. Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign on 1900.

Benz was ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed and Disregarding a Stop Sign.

Benz was taken by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No word of injury to Aranda. The victim in Aranda’s vehicle was not identified, pending notification of family. Gilman Fire and Riverside Ambulance also answered the call.
