A former Gilman man was sentenced to 14 years in prison in connection with a weapons charge. Chase Miles was sentenced in Vermilion Circuit Court in a plea agreement. Miles pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Miles was also given a 5 year prison sentence for Threatening a Public Official, but the sentences are to run concurrently. Miles resisted Hoopeston Police when an officer attempted to take him into custody in May of last year. Police found a loaded handgun in Miles’ possession while making the arrest. Miles is alleged to have threatened the arresting officers
