Danville Area Community College (DACC) is being recognized as one of eight institutions, nationwide, designated as a 2013 Leader College by Achieving the Dream, Inc.
Achieving the Dream is a national nonprofit that is dedicated to helping more community college students, particularly low-income and minority students, stay in school and earn a college certificate or degree.
DACC President Alice Jacobs says credit for receiving Leader College status goes to the community college's outstanding faculty, staff and Board of Trustees. President Jacobs adds they have been willing to engage in discussions about student success, examine critical data, and change policies and procedures that were barriers to students.
''Most importantly,'' added President Jacobs, ''the College has been willing to innovate with new methods of teaching and learning so that all students have an opportunity for success.'' {courtesy: DACC Human relations}
