Talk of landfill development in Kankakee County has residents stepping up to fight any future landfills.

Sammons Point, Grant Park, and Pembroke Township government leaders have passed resolutions opposing landfills. The elected officials are threatening legal action against the county board.

The county board has hired a $240,000 consultant to help with any future waste facility development.
