The Chicago Bears and Olivet Nazarene University announced a deal today (Monday ) that keeps the NFL team's summer training camp in Bourbonnais for the next nine years.
Local officials are relishing the good news from the Bears.
Bourbonnais Mayor Paul Schore says "we welcome the continued commitment and the business community will find this rewarding."
Thousands follow the Bears during their 12-day stay during mini-camp. And the fans keep dollars rolling in the community.
The agreement means the team's three weeks of preseason practice will continue at the private university, which hosts more than 100,000 fans over the course of camp each year.
As part of the agreement, Olivet plans to renovate and expand the team's locker room and athletic training facilities, as well as sod its four practice fields.
