The cause of a house fire in Kankakee Monday night is under investigation. Firefighters were called to the 600-block of E. Station Street at 8:45 pm. Fire Chief Damon Schuldt reports the fire escalated quickly, activating smoke alarms and doing an estimated $25,000 in damage. One fireman was treated for a minor injury.
