Memorial Day Flyover in Iroquois County

As communities deal with the cancellations of Memorial Day events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Iroquois County is responding with a "Gone West" Floyover to remember fallen veterans. A single aircraft, piloted by local resident Chuck Bohlmann, will fly slowly from east to west over several communities at designated times.  Weather permitting, the Piper J-3 Cub will fly over Milford, Sheldon, Watseka, Crescent City, Cissna Park, Buckley, Onarga and Gilman.  The flyover begins at 10 am.

The "Gone West" salute during WWI had flyers salute their fallen comrades by raising their glasses and facing West.  It signaled that their comrade had given their lives in service to the country.
