The Red Cross assisted a Kankakee family after a mid-day residential fire Wednesday. Kankakee Fire was called to the 300-block of N. Harrison Avenue around Noon. Extensive damage was reported to the outside of the house, moderate damage was inside. No injury reported. The cause was under investigation. Reports indicated up to five people may have been displaced.
