This year’s July 4th fireworks display and the symphony orchestra performance at Kankakee Community College has been called off. The popular event is yet another victim of the COVID-19 pandemic. The uncertainty of the crisis situation has forced many community leaders to take steps to protect the public and keep an eye on finances.

Already canceled this year are Memorial Day events, the Momence Glad Festival and the St. Anne Pumkin Festival. This weekend’s City-Wide Garage Sales in Watseka are also postponed. The Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Showcase was also postponed this week. It was scheduled for June 3rd.

Several summer events in Chicago are also called off.
