Two people went missing after apparently falling into the Kankakee River Thursday afternoon. A search of the waterway was called off last evening and will resume today (Friday). Kankakee Fire Chief Damon Schuldt said about a five-hour search ended at 7:30 pm. A boat capsized a little past 2 pm (Thursday) while two men were seen fishing west of the river-dam, off the Washington Avenue Bridge. The boat was recovered about 5 pm.

Schuldt reported a half-dozen fire departments had boats searching , along with officials from the IL DNR. The Wilmington Fire Dive Team was among three dive teams searching.
