A Benton County woman is dead after a house fire Tuesday afternoon. Benton County Sheriff Butch Pritchett identified 63-year-old Linda Spicer as the victim.

The emergency call came in shortly before 1 p.m. on State Road 71, south of Kentland.

Earl park firemen answered the emergency call to find the house engulfed. Investigators believe it began in the area of the garage but the cause is unknown.

The state fire marshal's office is investigating.
