OTTAWA -- Area motorists will want to be aware of restricted-lane usage on Interstate 57 near Ashkum, in Iroquois County.
Repairs are being made to the bridge carrying Township Road 2500 North over I-57 two miles south of Ashkum. Weather permitting, the projected is estimated to take two weeks to complete.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (I-DOT) is making it known there will be over night closures of southbound I-57 while repairs are made. The closures are targeted for Saturday and Sunday (May 18 and 19th) from 7 pm ‘til 7 am.
A detour will direct traffic to Route 116 and Route 24.
I-DOT reminds motorists to slow down and drive safely in construction and maintenance work zones.
