A civil lawsuit against Iroquois County, involving a correctional officer, has been settled for $100,000.
The county insurance company settled with 38-yerar-old Corey Kilgore, a Watseka resident who accused a jailer of physical abuse. Kilgore claimed his constitutional rights were violated. Kilgore claimed he was choked by the jailer while being detained at the county jail.
Kilgore was being held for a DUI arrest made by Illinois State Police. Kilgore later pleaded guilty to the DUI charge.
Iroquois County State’s Attorney Jim Devine explained the original suit seeking $387,000 was settled for the $100,000.
