BENTON COUNTY, Ind. - A state highway worker in Indiana was injured Wednesday when a semi crashed into his dump truck in Benton County.
Indiana State Police report the crash happened just before 2 p.m. on U.S. 41, about 3 miles south of Fowler.
65-year-old Thomas Klitzing of Rosedale, drove up on an INDOT crew patching holes in the right lane. Klitzing told police he was looking at wind turbines when he looked back at the road and saw he was in the construction zone. Investigators said he swerved and tried to brake when he hit the dump truck.
Klitzing was ticketed for failure to yield to highway maintenance service vehicles.
The driver of the dump truck, 62-year-old Fairley Creech of Oxford, was not seriously hurt..
