A Herscher school bus was involved in a minor accident today (Wed) on Illinois Route 113. One student was checked out for a minor injury and the driver of a car involved was treated at the scene.

Illinois State Police investigated just before 7:30 am at Warner Bridge Road in Kankakee County.

Police reported 19-year-old Keona Kelly of Gardner was blinded by the morning sun while eastbound. Her car crossed the centerline and hit the school bus, which had just loaded its first passenger. The student passenger nor the bus driver were injured. No charge was filed.

Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police and Limestone Fire assisted at the scene.
