A Kankakee man is jailed in Watseka charged with the shooting deaths of two people at a North Street residence Thursday. 44-year-old Scott E. Peterson was charged by Illinois State Police for first-degree murder in the killings of a man and woman. Sources stated the woman killed was Peterson's ex-wife.
The shooting victims are identified as 42-year-old Amanda Peterson and 38-year-old Joseph Robinson. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Robinson's 21-year-old son was also wounded. He was was listed in stable condition at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Watseka Police took Peterson into custody immediately at the scene. Watseka officers responded to a 9-1-1 report of shots fired with a gunshot victim at 346 W. North Street at 12:13 pm Thursday. Officers arrived and found multiple victims shot.
Peterson was booked in at the Iroquois County Jail. ISP reported he was expected to charged with 2-counts of first-degree murder. A bond hearing was set for Friday afternoon.
