Two Chicago men have been identified as the responsible suspects involved in the operation of an illegal marijuana growing set-up
44-year-old Yi Chao Mai, and 29-year-old Yaozong Yu were arrested by KAMEG for possession of over 200 cannabis plants. A search warrant at a Bonfield residence uncovered another 700 cannabis plants. The men were scheduled to appear for a bond hearing.  

Herscher Police Chief Kurt Quick reported an officer conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul for improper lane usage. The stop was at S. 10000W Road and Illinois Route 17 West.
The officer could smell the strong odor of cannabis coming from the U-Haul. A Police K-9 was called in and the dog alerted authorities to bags of cannabis plants inside the U-Haul. That led to a search warrant at the residence in Bonfield.
