A native of Covington, IN is the new administrator for the Ford County Public Health Department. 49-year-old Donald Gill is on the job. He replaces former administrator Lana Sample, who left the area for a new public health position in Florida.
Gill's current residence is Danville. His background includes program director for the Head Start program, serving Ford, Iroquois and Vermilion Counties. He also held positions in public health in Indiana and Kentucky. Gill was a Purdue University graduate with an undergraduate degree in health and safety education. He holds a M.A. degree from Western Kentucky University.
Gill worked as a community health strategist for the Lincoln Trail District Health Department in (Elizabethtown) Kentucky. He was also a preparedness and grants coordinator for the Fountain & Warren County Health Dept in Attica, IN. The Ford County Board of Health reported Gill was one of 18 applicants for the job.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is expected to OK Gill's public health administrative certification.
