John Marshino and Wayne Lehman were recognized last (Wed) evening during the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce 2019 Annual Banquet. Marshino was named Citizen of the Year while Lehman was named Lifetime Achievement award winner.
The two awards are sponsored by the Times-Republic.
Also honored was the Chamber’s Staff Achievement award winner Jake Quick and Justin Nichols of Nichol’s Paint & Fab for the Professional Award.
A little more than 100 guests were in attendance at the Watseka Elk’s Club.
Quick is a veteran member of the sales staff at Dralle—Chevy-Buick-GMC and Dralle Cadillac in Watseka. His recognition is for the staff dedication and service provided at the dealership.
Quick said he appreciated the support and all the well-wishes from customers, friends and family and the community support.
Justin Nichols said the employees at Nichols Paint & Fab are dedicated to the quality work they provide. The nationwide attention the business has received from the Wrenched Cable TV show has stirred a lot of attention on Watseka. Nichols says “it’s about the community and showcasing what we’re all about in Watseka.”
Marshino is active in the working community and volunteering with youth organizations. “It’s always exciting to be involved,” he said.
Lehman laughed and joked, saying he didn’t think he was that old to receive an award like this (Lifetime Achievement). “You get involved one thing at a time and it piles up and pretty soon you work at making the community better.” He adds, “this community has given me a lot and it’s good to give something back.”
Lehman said “there’s a lot of giving people and community leaders; not sure I deserve this any more than a lot of others. “
