Watson new mayor in Bradley

At a special village board meeting Thursday afternoon, Mike Watson was voted in as acting mayor. The six trustees voted in their fellow trustee to lead the community after last week’s resignation of former mayor Bruce Adams.

Watson is the un-official leader of the Progressive Citizens Party, which wrestled away power from the Democrats in the April election.

Watson was approved on a 5-1 vote. The lone dissenter was veteran board member Bob Redmond, who stated he should be nominated as the most-veteran member of the board. His nomination was not seconded.

The board is now comprised of four Progressive Citizens Party trustees and one Democrat.

Watson had run for the mayor’s job twice before, losing both times to Adams...in 2013 and 2017.
