The Iroquois River and Sugar Creek are out of their banks following three days of rain. Area communities have reported between 2.25 to over five inches of rain since Monday. A reprieve is expected today (Friday) but more rain is possible tonight and then again next week.
The Kankakee and Vermilion Rivers are also out of their banks, affecting Kankakee, Iroquois, Livingston and Vermilion counties in Illinois. Newton County, Indiana is also reporting closed roads and flooding.
The NWS is expecting rivers and streams to remain out of their banks thru the weekend. Motorists are urged to pay attention to barricades and seek an alternate route if roads are posted. People living in low-land areas are encouraged to seek higher ground.
