Some union workers in Vermilion County have reportedly reached a new tentative contract agreement with the county.

Details of the proposal are not being released yet, pending a vote by the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 21.

In September, the county employees had rejected a proposal. At the time some employees said the county planned to cut future longevity payments and reduce personal days. But attorney Bill Donahue, lead negotiator for the County, said what was proposed in September was to place the longevity on the employee's base pay. And in the future, Donahue said the county wanted to concentrate on the base salary. He also said at the time that the reduction in personal days would put county employees more in line with other businesses in our area.

Details of the new proposal are expected to be released once employees have had a chance to vote on it. Employees represented by the IBEW include those who work at the County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex, County Health Department and Vermilion County Department of Animal Regulations.
