There may be some relief from the rain for area trick-or-treaters this evening. Windy conditions are rain have already had some community leaders postpone their Halloween activities until Friday.
Word from the National Weather Service in Lincoln might be the treat some are looking for.
Much of the expected 1-2 inches in today's forecast may be over by around 4 pm. But that's not guaranteed.
Meteorologist Gini Izzi said temperatures will drop after the system moves through. He said temperatures may reach a high near 67 degrees during the afternoon, but then drop to around 42 degrees for the overnight low.
"What may feel like a very nice day early, will turn pretty chilly by the night," he said.
Gusting winds up to 21 miles per hour will also make the air seem cooler, he said.
The cooler temperatures will stay through the weekend. Friday's high will be around 57 degrees and Saturday and Sunday, the highs are expected to be around 50 degrees.
