Watseka 8th grader recognized by Juvenile Justice Council

Canaan Curtis has quite the "infectious smile."  But his perseverance and growth mindset is what makes him a model student in the educational community of the Watseka Unit Nine School District.  And the 8th grader at Watseka Junior High School is in the Student Spotlight this week, courtesy of the Juvenile Justice Council of Iroquois County.

The JJC partners with area businesses and schools to recognize a student each week (Wednesdays) for their exceptional attitude, character and citizenship.  The JJC says such students are celebrated as shining examples who light the way for others to follow.

Canaan Curtis bridges all the gaps in the student body and is considered a valued member in so many student groups.  Canaan's principal, Stephen Rigsby, says Canaan is universally respected by the faculty, staff and student body for his efforts, his friendships, and his infectious smile.. and we're honored to nominate Canaan Curtis for the JJC Student Spotlight.

The JJC hopes the Student Spotlight encourages and empowers teens to make healthy choices and create a ripple effect.
