Route 50 Improvements topic of public meeting Wednesday

The Illinois Department of Transportation is inviting the public to attend an informational public meeting on Wednesday, April 8, to view and comment on the preliminary engineering and environmental study for the improvement of Illinois 50 from south of Brookmont Boulevard to Jeffrey Street in Kankakee. The event is from 4 to 6 pm at Kankakee Community College, Building D. 

The purpose of this meeting is to introduce a range of alternatives designed to improve safety and mobility in the Illinois 50 corridor. IDOT is seeking public feedback on several different design options that are under consideration, how each alternative affects the local community and environment, and the current challenges facing the Illinois 50 corridor.
