Off-Duty Cook County Sheriff's Officer Killed in Morris Crash

A deadly weekend crash that took the life of an off-duty Cook County officer in suburban Morris remains under investigation. Officer Ronald Prohasca pulled over Sunday afternoon to help a driver who got stuck on the Route 47 bridge. He was working on the engine when another vehicle hit the parked car. Prohasca, who is from Chicago, was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he died from his injuries. One of the drivers was cited for not slowing down.
