Local town leaders are urged to make sure Cooling Centers are open and available for public use during this extreme hot weather. Citizens in need of escaping from the dangerous hot temps should seek cooler conditions. Churches, libraries, senior citizen centers, shopping centers and other public buildings could serve as a cooling center.
The forecast calls for a sunny, hot day with a high near 96. The Heat index value could climb to 113 or greater. Southwest winds may reach 10--15 mph. Some wind gusts could peak at 20 mph. The dangers conditions are likely thru Sunday.
In Watseka .... the UR Teen Center at 114 N. 3rd Street will be open Friday 3 - 8 pm to serve as a cooling center. All teems are welcome.
