Watseka City Council raises legal age for regulating tobacco products

It’s an attempt to control the habits of a younger generation and improve health. The Watseka City Council last evening amended its ordinance Regulating Tobacco Products, under a new Illinois law. It raises the legal age from 18 to 21 for buying tobacco products.

The Council also approved engineering fees for extending water mains from Belmont Avenue north to Lincoln Avenue. Postponed was a project to extend water mains from Sugar Creek Trailer Court to the Kingdon Apartments. That will require another look.

The 4th Street & Fairman Avenue road project payment of $530, 631 dollars to Iroquois Paving Corporation was approved. That’s a Motor Fuel Tax project.
