A Kankakee woman will spend six years in prison for the DUI death of a 15-year-old Reddick teenager. 36-year-old Carmella Larson was sentenced in Kankakee Circuit Court. The 2016 drunk driving crash in LimestoneTownship took the life took the life of Kameron Allison. Another teen was also seriously injured.
Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe pushed for a tougher penalty, but adds, Larson is getting what she deserves -- prison time.
“I’m glad she’s (Larson) going to prison, she belongs there,” Rowe said. “Let’s not forget though, when Larson was driving drunk she struck and killed Kameron giving him an immediate death sentence.”
Rowe said the Illinois laws should reflect that and treat people who drink and drive as murderers. Rowe argued for the maximum 14 years.
