Watseka mural to highlight city's rich history

Voters spoke: Choosing artwork to be displayed downtown

The Watseka Community Renewal group will help direct the production of a painted mural that represents Watseka’s early beginning, “Hubbard Trail: The Path that Built Watseka.”

A recent survey had voters choose the painting that local artist Carol Kaufman created.  It shows the legacy of important people who shaped the city’s development.

The mural will eventually be displayed in the 200-block of E. Walnut Street, on a brick wall east of the corner at Walnut and 4th Street.  A future ribbon-cutting event is planned.

Volunteers are welcome to contact the Community Renewal group to help with the preparation of the mural site.  Donations are welcome.
