A residential fire Monday afternoon resulted in an estimated $15,000 in damage to the exterior of the home at 508 N. Hammes in Kankakee. Fire personnel responded at 2 pm. No injuries to report. Crews were on the scene about an hour. Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche reported the house was used mostly for storage by the owner. The fire may have started from a cigarette.
