Sixth-grader Henry Wesslund of St. John’s School at Buckley is the 2026 WGFA Spelling Bee Champ !  Henry gets it done today (Friday) during the 59th Annual Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Iroquois County Retired Teachers Association.

After 2nd place finisher Kinely Bohn of Nash Middle School (Clifton) in-correctly spelled aluminum, Henry (who participated in the Bee for a second straight year) stepped up to make it right with a l u m I n u m, then spelled l I c o r I c e ……..

Seventeen contestants took on the challenge. All were 5th or 6th grade students from Iroquois County.
1st Place: Henry Wesslund --- St. John’s, Buckley
Runner-up: Kinely Bohn, 5th grade --- John Nash
WGFA host Justin Bryant served as the Word Presentor.
