Area County Fair queens and talen show winners were on stage again over the weekend, this time in state competition. Iroquois, Ford and Vermilion County winners from last summer's fair season were seeking state recogniation at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs annual convention in Springfield.
Anna Parmenter of Watseka won the Talent Show top honor in the Senior Division. Her performance on the piano captured first-place. She will play again this summer during County Fair Day at the Illinois State Fair. Anna is the daughter of Eric & Sally Parmenter. Anna is a senior at Watseka High School.
A Junior Division winner at the Iroquois Couty Fair in 2019 also placed in the top ten at state. The Jazz Dance team, Elite Energy, consists of dancers from Beaverville, Donovan, Milford, Watseka and Danforth.
The area queens of tzhe Iroquois, Ford and Vermilion County Fairs joined 70 plus other queens in seeking the Illinois State Fair Queen title. Brianne Miller of Martinton is the reigning Miss Iroquois County Fair Queen. Evie Ellis of Paxton is the current Ford County Queen and Cassidie Parker is representing Vermilion County.
MIss Miller was among the non-finalist award winners, named Best in Beauty and Physique competition. Miss Parker was selected as Best in Communicvation Skills.
The 2020 State Fair Queen is Miss White County, 18-year-old Kelsi Kessler of Carmi.She will represent the state at the 2020 Illinois State Fair and DuQuoin Fair.
