Bond was set at $5-million today (Friday) for 53-year-old Clifford Brewer of Cullom. He’s charged with 6-counts of murder for the shooting deaths of his wife, son and neighbor -- on Christmas Day.
In Livingston Circuit Court, State’s Attorney Randy Yedinak read the probable cause statement. It was pointed out that Clifford Brewer had gotten into an earlier argument with his wife, Shirley, after he had gone shopping for her birthday gift. Brewer told police his wife then texted neighbor, Norman Walker, because she needed a friend; they began drinking heavily.
Clifford Brewer then laid down after taking medicine and fell asleep. When he woke up, he told police he found spent shell casings. He also found his son, Christian, in his upstairs bedroom and his wife and Walker in another room. All three had been shot in the head. Brewer, himself, called 911 at 2:05 am.
Brewer told police no one had come into or left the house until he discovered the bodies and police said there was no sign of forced entry. Autopsy results showed the gunshots were not self-inflicted.
Clifford Brewer’s been jailed since Christmas Day. He was arrested for the triple homicide. 48-year-old Shirley Brewer, 27-year-old Christian Brewer and 51-year-old Norman Walker all were shot twice.
