The Vermilion County Coroner's Office is working with Illinois State Police investigating a truck-pedestrian accident that killed a pedestrian. It happened last (Thurs) night just after 9 pm. State Police say their investigation found the pedestrian was walking in the roadway along Illinois Route 49, a half-mile north of Vermilion County 2000 North Road when he was struck. The location was northwest of Fithian.

Police report the pick-up truck was driven by a 35-year-old woman. No charges were filed against the driver of the truck.

The name of the man killed is being withheld pending notification of relatives. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
